Holmes was living as a paying guest. Mr. Holmes had not eaten anything for the last three days and he was very sick and he also did not allow Mrs. Hudson to call in a doctor. Mr. Holmes permitted her to go to Mr. Watson, hence she had come there to inform him about Mr. Holmes.
